Patient Preparation:
- Throat:
- Insert swab to throat making contact with both tonsils and posterior pharyngeal wall.
- Avoid making contact with inside of cheeks or tongue.
- Rectal:
- Insert swab into the rectum past the anal margin ( the outside of the anus) and rotate the swab 5-10 times.
- Avoid making contact with skin during insertion and removal of swab.
Specimen Type:
- Throat or rectal swab collection with Aptima Multiswab Collection Kit. (Orange)
Minimum Volume:
- Aptima urogenital swab: Entire Swab.
