Container/Tube Type: Lavender (EDTA)

Collection Information: Collect blood in a lavender (EDTA) tube.

Transport Information: Centrifuge and transfer 1.4 mL plasma to a plastic transport tube. Send refrigerated. 

Remarks: Remove plasma from cells within 24 hours and transfer to a polypropylene tube at 2-8°C for transport.

Stability Comments: Freeze thaw studies show specimen may be frozen and thawed up to 4 times without loss of HIV-1 RNA.

Reject Due To

Unacceptable Conditions: Serum and heparinized samples. ACD plasma will yield 15% lower test results than EDTA plasma.
