Minimum Volume
1.0 mL of plasma (approximately 2.0 mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient hematocrit)
Specimen Stability
Stability Comments: Freeze thaw studies show specimen may be frozen and thawed up to 4 times without loss of HIV-1 RNA.
Stability
Refrigerated Stability:
Whole blood in EDTA - 24 hours
Plasma - 6 days
Frozen Stability:
Plasma - ≤ -18° C - 12 weeks
Plasma - ≤ -60° C - 6 months
