Sample Volume Requirements: 

1.5 mL blood/0.5 mL serum

 

Minimum Sample Volume: 

0.5 mL blood/0.15 mL serum

 

Random samples are acceptable. Pooled samples may be collected due to the pulsatile nature of LH secretion. Collect three equal volumes of blood about 15-20 minutes apart and clearly label that the serum from the samples should be pooled. Gel tubes acceptable if serum is removed from gel after centrifugation.
