Collection Information:
Collect blood in a serum separator tube.
Sample Volume Requirements:
Centrifuge and aliquot 1.0 mL of serum into a plastic transport vial.
Minimum Sample Volume:
0.5 mL of serum (approximately 1.0 mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient hematocrit).
Remarks:
Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of acute specimens. Label specimens plainly as acute or convalescent.
Unacceptable Conditions:
Contaminated, heat-inactivated, or grossly hemolyzed specimens.
