  • Specimens collected between 22-26 hours will be accepted as 24 hour specimens.  Anything less than 22 hours or greater than 26 hours  will be ordered as a "Random" specimen and should include a Period and Volume measurement.

Patient Preparation:

  • Collect urine in 24 hour urine jug. Urine should be refrigerated during collection.

Specimen Type:

  • 24 hours of urine.

Reasons for Rejection:

  • Specimen does not meet collection, storage, or transport requirements.

Stability

  • Ambient: 2 days.
  • Refrigerated: 4 days.
  • Frozen: 3 weeks.
