Patient Preparation:

• Standard blood collection procedure.

Specimen Type:

• Preferred:
  • Gold Serum Separator Tube.
  • Light Green Lithium Heparin Tube with gel.
• Acceptable:
  • Red Serum (No Additive) Tube.
  • Dark Green Lithium Heparin Tube no gel.

Minimum Volume:

• 0.3mL serum (approximately 0.6mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient's hematocrit.)

Reject Due To:

• Specimen does not meet collection, storage, or transport requirements.
