Collection Information:

Collect blood in a serum separator tube.

Transport Information:

Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 0.5 mL serum to a plastic vial.

Minimum Sample Volume:

0.30 mL of serum (approximately 0.6 mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient's hematocrit)

Unacceptable Conditions:

Plasma or urine. Contaminated specimens. Grossly hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.

Refrigerated Stability:

14 days - Preferred

Frozen Stability:

365 day (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

Ambient Stability:

48 hours
