SST (Serum Separator) PREFERRED

Red (No Additive)

Collect blood in a serum separator tube (serum red top tube also acceptable).

Sample Volume Requirement: 

Centrifuge and aliquot 1.0 mL of serum into a plastic vial within 3 hours of collection. 

Minimum Sample Volume: 

0.75 mL of serum (approximately 1.50 mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient hematocrit)

Unacceptable Conditions: 

Gross hemolysis, gross icterus
