Patient Preparation: For 12 hours before specimen collection, do not take multivitamins or dietary supplements containing biotin (vitamin B7), which is commonly found in hair, skin, and nail supplements and multivitamins.

Method Description
The patient sample is added to a solid phase that is coated with a mouse monoclonal antibody specific for prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP). A goat-anti-PAP-alkaline phosphatase conjugate is added to form an antibody sandwich complex. Excess conjugate is removed by washing, and an adamantyl dioxetane phosphate substrate is added to produce chemiluminescence.
