Collection

Patient Preparation:

• Amniocentesis. Specimen must be collected between 96 and 160 days gestational age for valid results.

Specimen Type:

• Amniotic fluid collected in an aliquot tube without preservative.

Minimum Volume:

• 2mL 

Reasons for Rejection:

• Amniotic fluid contaminated with fetal blood cannot be reflexed to ACHE test if positive.
• Sample not collected within the required gestational age range.
• Specimen does not meet collection, storage, or transport requirements.
